Sas-van-Gent lies just across the Belgian-Dutch border in Zeeland, the Netherlands, north of Zelzate.

On 29-4-1857 in Aardenburg Amelie became the wife of Francis Jacobus De Brouwer. He was the son of Jacobus Dominicus De Brouwer and Pieternella Allaert.
Aardenburg lies across the border in Zeeland, the Netherlands, north of Eede also in Zeeland, and north of Maldegem in our Meetjesland.
Francies died in Aardenburg on 1 September 1885.

At the turn of the century Amelie was domiciled again in Sas-van-Gent.  On 11-10-1910 she returned to Assenede.  There in the convent she died on 8 July 1911.

The children of Amelie and Francis:

  1. Seraphina Pieternella De Brouwer.
    ° Aardenburg 26-3-1858
    In Aardenburg on 12 July 1882 she married Eduard Mobelus.  He was born in Eede on 22-5-1857,  the son of Petrus Mobelus and Ludovica Francisca Corthals.  He worked as a farm hand.
    Seraphina died  in Sas van Gent on 29 March 1903.
    Eduard remarried on 12-4-1904 in Sas van Gent with Maria Sophia Rosalia Koene.  She was born in Sas van Gent on 20-9-1867, de daughter of Johannes Baptiste Koene and Melanie Ongenae.  He was registered as a 46 year old labourer while his new bride, a servant was 36 years young.
    Eduard passed away in Terneuzen on 15-12-1942.
    Seraphina and Eduard had 3 children:
    • Sidonie Marie Louise Mobelus
      ° Aardenburg 7-8-1884
      † Aardenburg 12-11-1884
    • Arthur Alphons Mobelus
      ° Aardenburg 1-5-1887.
      † Sas van Gent 16-8-1903.  He was registered as a "loopjongen": he ran errands and delivered messages.
    • Jacobus Franciscus Mobelus
      ° Aardenburg 18-5-1883
      He was assistant postman.
      x Sas van Gent 6-9-1913 Clemence Bonne.  She was born at the Overslag on 29-12-1885.  She was the daughter of Adolf Bonne (farm labourer) and Joanna Maria Verhoeve.
      On 10 February 1921 in Sas van Gent she was delivered of a dead child.
      Both died in Terneuzen, Jacobus on 22-3-1958 and Clemence on 22-10-1961.
       
  2. Jacobus De Brouwer
    He died on 5 June 1866 in Aardenburg at the age of 6.
     
  3. Pieter Franciscus De Brouwer
    He was born in Aardenburg on 14-1-1862 and he died there on 2 March 1862.
     
  4. Philemina Christina De Brouwer
    Born in Aardenburg on 26-6-1863 and deceased there on 15 September 1865.
     
  5. Eugenia Maria De Brouwer
    He was born in Aardenburg on 6-12-1864 and died there on 3 January 1865.
     
  6. Pieter Johannes De Brouwer
    ° Aardenburg 28-1-1866
    He was "marechaussee", police man.
    He married on 29-6-1892 in Zuiddorpe with Leonia de Boeij.  She was born in Zuiddorpe on 12-10-1866, the daughter of Judocus de Boeij and Virginia Francisca Coppieters, both labourers.
    Leonia and Pieter Johannes both passed away in Hulst, she on 13-6-1945 and he on 6-8-1948.
    Their children:
    • Franciscus Jacobus de Brouwer
      ° Zuiddorpe 24-3-1890
      His parents recognized him as their son when they got married.
      x Clinge 19-7-1920 Alma Philomena van Osselaer. She was born in the Clinge on 9-7-1893, the daughter of Carolus Ludovicus van Osselaer and Antonia van Varenbergh.
      Franciscus worked as a "rijksklerk", state employee or secretary.
      Alma was an 86 year old widow when she passed away in Terneuzen on 26-7-1979.
    • Bernardus Judocus de Brouwer
      Born in Zuidhorn about 1900.
      He was office worker, 30 years old when he was married in Hulst on 16-7-1930 to Paulina Magdalena van Heese.  She was born in Hontenisse on 6-2-1905, the daughter of Petrus van Heese and Rosalia Burm.  The wedding certificate states that she was a servant.
      Bernardus was "amanuensis-concierge" when he died in Hulst on on 31-7-1944.
       
  7. Albertina Amelia De Brouwer
    She was born in Aardenburg on 30-7-1867 and died there on 1 October 1867.
     
  8. Franciscus Jacobus De Brouwer
    He was born in Aardenburg on 25-2-1869 and died there on 7 March 1872.
