Elvire Van Vooren's farm.
Elvire was born in
Bassevelde on 28 December 1914.
Here on this farm she was happy but here she also saw the horrors of the war.
Her husband died in 1975 and she staid on alone and nothing much changed except the
seasons that came and went.
She lived here until about a week before her death—on 18 September 2007
in that huge hospital in
Eeklo.
The place was sold and in 2009 it was a construction site.
And now that all this is behind us see
here
for the difference.
Another little bit of our heritage has gone forever.
